Restoration Sermon | When Judgment Pushes Away | Disillusioned

Jan 19, 2025    Brian Remsch

In this powerful exploration of judgmentalism, we're invited to confront our own tendencies to condemn others. The story of Jesus and the woman caught in adultery (John 8:1-11) serves as a mirror, challenging us to examine our hearts. Are we, like the Pharisees, quick to point out others' faults while ignoring our own? Jesus' response - 'Let him who is without sin cast the first stone' - reminds us of our shared humanity and imperfections. This message isn't about condoning sin, but about approaching others with grace, love, and humility. As we reflect on who we might be tempted to 'drag before Jesus,' we're called to instead lead with love, seeing the image of God in every person. What if our churches became known as safe spaces for the broken, the questioning, and the imperfect? This radical shift could transform not only our faith communities but also how the world perceives Christ's love.
